This video and scatter plot set show nearly all Landsat MSS and TM images for the area intersecting WRS2 path 45, row 30 for years 1972-1995. The video loops through all images in chronological order and is tied to three scatter plots representing the median image value for spectral indices: tasseled cap brightness, greenness, and wetness (TCB, TCG, TCW). The image and point colors are displayed as TCB = red, TCG = green, TCW = blue, with a standardized stretch. Note the similar color range across the entire time series (variation due to season, cloud cover, and proportion of area-of-interest). It is notable because MSS and TM are not equivalent data. The MSS data here have been modeled to match the characteristics of TM data using a framework similar to LandsatLinkr. This spectral harmonization allows the entire 43+ year Landsat image archive to be included in a consistent time series analysis to study historical Earth surface change.
